“Earthen Elements” Exhibit Starts September 16
Artist Reception: September 18, 5-9pm
ArtProv gallery, a contemporary gallery located in the Jewelry District’s historic Doran Building at 150 Chestnut Street, announced today that it will host visiting artist Vibha Nanda and her abstract paintings in its new exhibit, “Earthen Elements.”
The show will run from September 16, 2014, through October 10, 2014, with an artist reception with Vibha during Gallery Night Providence on September 18 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Vibha is an Indian-born, Doha, Qatar-based painter and sculptor. Her dramatic canvasses depict organic abstraction, from which emerge figurative traces, cities and landscapes in exquisite color gradients. Her ceramic sculpture relies less on color and more on linear form, some seemingly assembled from stacked rectangles and triangles into surreal, abstract forms while others invoke visions of maternal instinct and the creation of life.
“The versatility in Vibha’s materials and modes of expression give her work a unique rhythm and vitality,” said ArtProv gallery co-owner Michele Aucoin. “I’m excited to introduce her to the local community and share her pieces with a new audience.”
ArtProv gallery will be open to the public on Tuesdays – Fridays from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., from September 16 - October 10. Visitors can also view the exhibit by appointment.
