Born in Riga, Latvia, Maira Reinbergs began drawing at the age of four. After fleeing Latvia during WWII, Maira and her family ultimately immigrated to the United States. She received a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and currently works from her studio in Attleboro, Massachusetts.
My paintings are explorations of color. I strive to capture its illusiveness, subtleties and mysteries. Often music influences my work; lines and color variations express movement, continuity. My life has had its share of turbulence and sadness. Perhaps to counterbalance this, I strive for my paintings to express tranquility, harmony and beauty.
